Hi,
I am applying for British citizenship after 5 years on settled status. I have Italian citizenship. Only thing I renewed my passport on 2021 and the expired passport was cancelled.
Do I need to upload my old passport as well with the new one?

Italian passports don't get stamped at entry in the UK, so the current one will be enough. You will need to provide other proof of residence (govt letters, P60s, HMRC tax returns, letters from employers). Bank statements and utility bills are not accepted.

One needs to wait at least a year since indefinite leave to remain/settled status so yes it will be enough to qualify.

So the settled status will be enough to cover the period from 2019 to 2024 as proof of lawful residence? i acquire settled status on april 2019. passport was renewed in 2021.

Yes you will be fine. You will need to submit the URN of pre-settled and settled status as proof you have ILR.

Can I please ask why you waited 5 years after settled status before applying for British citizen? Was it because you needed to prove lawful residence if you applied let’s say 1 year after the settled status?

Applicants have various reasons not to apply for citizenship straight away, it is not compulsory to become a citizen to stay in the UK once one has ILR. I personally apply the day after I became eligible but everyone is different.

Unless you violated immigration law in the last 10 years, you most likely already were. Anyhow, you have reached that further assurance now so you can go ahead and apply.

My last question is: I obtained settled status on May 2019.
5 years of lawful residence has passed since then. I need to wait 1 more year because one requirement for British citizenship is 5 years of continuous residence and 12 months after obtained settled status. So total 5+1 years.

It is 5 years lawful residence which MUST INCLUDE 1 year on ILR/Settled Status. Citizenship is based on the 5 years immediately before the date of applying.

Before you acquired settled status, your residence was already lawful (unless you were in breach of immigration law or committed some offence that would cause concern under the good character requirement). You could have applied 1 year after your settled status was granted, so 5+1 would have elapsed in 2020 for you. You didn't need to wait 5 years from when your ILR was granted. You can go ahead and apply now if you have all the needed documents.

It is 5 years lawful residence which MUST INCLUDE 1 year on ILR/Settled Status. Citizenship is based on the 5 years immediately before the date of applying.
