Okay I know this might be a long shot but what are the chances of obtaining citizenship with the new tougher laws with the below unattractive record?

9 years ago - Drunkenly tapped a woman's backside in a night club. (Sexual assault conviction. Recieved community sentence)

10 years ago - Drink driving, no licence no insurance (driving ban for 1 year)

Mitigating.

Lived in the UK since 2002. Came when I was 10, I'm 32 now. Quit drinking many years ago. Changed habits and went on to obtain PHD in electronics. Got a really good proffesional job and always been in work and paying taxes etc.

What was exactly the conviction you received? Did you cause serious harm in the drunk driving incident ?Do you have records that you stopped drinking (eg you attended support groups regularly) or other elements you changed your character (eh volunteering)? These offences are long ago enough that depending on details, unless you received a custodial sentence I think with a well worded letter and a spotless application it may be possible.

Hello , I’m in a similar situation.

Ex and I broke up in 2020, was charged with domestic abuse section 1 of Scotland act 2018 in October 2020, no physical abuse , sentenced pronounced in April 2024 ( following long 3.5 years delays due to Covid), punishment was a disposal : community payback order (18month supervision 1
& 150 hours unpaid work) + non harassment order.
Ex accused me of financial control and calling her crazy during arguments ( this is why I was sentenced btw) . I’m in the process of appealing the decision as well.
I never been to jail whilst waiting for my trial and sentence.
My question is, can I still apply for BC?

Did you decide to apply? Do keep us posted as in a similar position of thinking to apply for citizenship but with drink driving + no insurance conviction
