Hello,

Just a question, I kept searching here but to no avail. Do they check criminal records overseas when applying for citizenship?

Any info or experience about this?

Thanks you.

How serious a conviction is involved? For minor things such as traffic violations it usually is OK.

Do they ask the home country for all records?

We have no insight into what sources UKVI use regarding criminality abroad - the guidance mentions "official records".
Suffice to say that you are required to disclose convictions - from the good character guidance you will see that there are grades of seriousness. If it turns out later that an applicant did not disclose serious matters, in the UK or abroad, they may remove citizenship.
It may be useful for members to comment if you could outline your concerns.

I appreciate it is a sensitive question, however if you disclose details we can better advise. We don't know what records UKVI may ask to original country or to other countries the applicant may have lived in, but a more serious criminal record could transpire and should be disclosed.
