Hi,

I am sending documents for british passport for my son.
I have an ILR and my son was born after I got my ILR.

They have asked me to send a lot of documents. I have the following questions

1. Do I have to send original documents?
2. They have asked birth and marriage certificates of paternal and maternal grandfather. But I dont have them. Are those mandatory?

Yes, you have to send originals.
2. They have asked birth and marriage certificates of paternal and maternal grandfather. But I dont have them. Are those mandatory?
No, these are NOT required.

Note the same form is used for everyone, even those born to British parents. Not everything is needed in your case.

You need to send original birth certificate for your child that has your name on it and your ILR BRP. Do not destroy this or return it if one day you get citizenship as that is the physical evidence that your child has entitlement to British citizenship.
