Can applicant be abroad at time of application?

Does it pose a problem if a citizenship application is made while one of the applicants is abroad (for a work-related conference) at the time of application?

(Both applicants live in the UK, but one will be at a conference unless we can manage to submit in the next day or two. We can wait for her to return but would like to get it submitted as soon as possible if possible.)

Apply before or once back. You have to declare all absences and dates, which you can't do accurately if abroad as you cannot put a future return date.

The reason for absence is completely irrelevant. Absence is absence.

You need to be in the UK for
(a) the date of application,
(b) the date of the citizenship ceremony, which you need to do at the local council that you live in or which you nominate in your application form, and,
(c) when you are making your first British passport. You may have to submit your non-British passport during this process and so many not be able to travel.

You also will need to be in the UK for your biometric appointment.
