Hi All,

I had ILR when my child was born in UK. Now I am planning to apply for British passport for him. When I was applying the list of documents I need to send was just bit confusing so thought to check if anyone has done it and what documents has they sent

The list says :
1. Child birth certificate(which i have )
2. Parents’ documents : For 1 of your parents, send 1 of the following:

-full birth or adoption certificate (showing both the child’s and parents’ details)
-naturalisation or registration certificate
-the non-British passport they had when you were born showing indefinite leave to remain

So in point 2, I think I need to send one of the above. But bit confused with the 3 points like should I send my passport or should i send the BRP. Please let me know

Thanks in advance.

Your child's claim to British citizenship is your ILR at time of birth (proof = your BRP card) and child's UK birth certificate. That's all. Ignore the parents/grandparents documents. The form cater for many different pathways to BC. HMPO know the rules around your scenario, which is very common.
