Dear Board Members,

Please help me with choosing the right application for my daughter application for British Citizenship.

She was born in UK and currently in India.

When she was born, both the parents were on Tier 2 Visa and currently both the parents received ILR now.

So in order to make an application for my daughter born in UK and currently in India, what is right application for bringing her to UK.

Can we apply for British Passport straight away from India or

Do we need to make a Naturalisation application first and then on to the British Passport.

Please provide any link to the guidance, if possible.

Many thanks in advance,

She needs to be registered (only adults are naturalised) as British first on form MN1. It can take up 6 months, sometimes longer.

Only once you have received the citizenship certificate, can you apply for a passport, which from India, can take a long time, sometime as long as a year.

Quickest way to bring her back is to apply for a child settlement visa.

Who are you asking for? You're previous posts indictate you are already British??

Thanks for your prompt response CR001.

Kindly share the link for Settlement Visa for the child.

So I understand that Settlement visa is same as ILR dependent and once i child in UK, Can i straight away apply for MN1 and then on to British Passport.

Note: Currently she does not have any immigration status to arrive in UK, after she was born in UK, we’ve taken her to India with an Indian Passport and no UK Visa

Thanks

To get help on settlement visas you should ask your question in the Immigration for family members subforum.
