Applying for Naturalisation OR citizenship. Document list requires Ecctis letter

Dear immigration experts,

I have filled the online form for naturalisation and I have now I have been presented with a list of documents. One of the documents is -
Ecctis letter that confirms the qualification meets or exceeds the recognised standard of a Bachelor's or Masters degree or PhD in the UK AND confirm the level of English to which the degree was taught or researched

I applied my tier 1 visa in 2009 and gained my ILR in 2015. I never had to show Ecctis or NARIC letter before. I have M.Tech from IIT Kharagpur which was in the list of universities accepted as providing instructions in English medium. My questions is - has anything changed requiring Ecctis letter. Will there be an issue if I don't provide the letter as I never had to provide before? I was given ILR which is only possible when I qualify English requirement so that itself is evidence that I qualify.
On a side note, Trinity college SELT B1 test is cheaper than getting Ecctis letter. If absolutely necessary, is it not better to do the english test?

Thanks,
Faiz

Th Ecctis letter is necessary for naturalisation. You can also sit for the English test. I assume you have already paid - if this is the case, you can no longer modify the application, so write a cover letter where you explain that you are providing the B1 SELT test as proof of language instead.

Thank you very much. I haven't paid yet so I will try to modify the application and see if I can change it to SELT B1

Yes, you can amend your answers. Select that you didn't submit this proof of English for ILR, and say you will provide a SELT B1 test. I would suggest to sit for the test before you apply.
