Refused Citizenship Application

Hi Moderators, the naturalisation application of my son (19 year old now) has been refused because he didn't meet the statutory requirement of the one year following acquiring the ILR. My son has a mental disability and his real age is far below the 19 year old. We have provided supporting documents and we were hoping that he will be treated as a child where this one year requirement could be waived.
My son is elegible to apply in January 2025, I am planning to apply for a reconsideration based on the disclaimer of the home office that mentioned in the application which states that the home office has the right to delay reviewing of the application rather than refusing it until the the statutory requirements are met. Do you think that making such application would be beneficial or making a fresh application please.
Thanks for your continued support.

You needed to have waited 1 year on ilr. Your child is considered an adult, based on date of birth, regardless of health issues.

The child is not disadvantaged by waiting as they can get the same help and support on ilr as a biritish citizen.

The delay in reviewing an application mainly applies to the physically present at the start of the qualifying period requirement.

Hi, the application was made in February and I received the decision in May, so it took about 3 months.

19 years old applicant is treated the same way as a 60 years old applicant - they are both adults. I have no idea why you couldn't wait 1 year after his ILR acquisition

When you reapply you will need a certificate for your son certifying his disabilities and that for that reason he can't sit for the LITUK and English language tests.
