Hi. I am a Non-EEA National Settled via the settlement scheme via my EEA partner. Lived in the UK since 2012 with no relevant absences. Started as Tier 4, moved to Tier 2, then EEA family member, then pre-settled and then settled under settlement scheme more than a year ago. I just submitted my citizenship / naturalisation application and have read the following on my document checklist:

If you are a Non-EEA National.You need to include your passport to prove you have lived in the UK for the relevant 5 year period. If you don't have your passport or it wasn't stamped when you entered the UK, you need to submit letters (for example from your employer or government department) as proof.

I have my appointment for evidence / biometrics next week and can upload all docs beforehand to their system. I am happy to provide my passport to the appointment but I am travelling in December so I need it. Will they keep it after the appointment or just check the original and I'll keep it with me after the appointment? I have also added my last 5 P60s - I don't know if that will work as evidence for this or should I also get a letter from my employer

No originals are detained. Your passport will be used for checking ID and returned at the appointment. P60s are fine for residency evidence. One type of evidence is sufficient. The application only requires a Minimum of documents.

The passport will not be retained during the biometrics appointment, it will be given back to you.

You don't need P60s or employer letters for this application.

Despite being settled under the EUSS, your passport get stamped all the time you travel. A scan of the biometric and stamped pages of the passport is the only thing you need to upload as proof of residence/presence in the UK.

As advised, keep this application as simple as it is.

All correct but note that not all non-EEA passport get stamped. If OP's passport got stamped that will be enough, if not the option to provide P60s is correct.

Would be a good idea to add the P60s to strengthen this? or better to go for as simple as possible?

That's not an issue at all.

I didn't have my passport stamped every single time I re-entered the UK and my application was approved. Between ILR and naturalisation I travelled quite often and only got one stamp from UK border officers, they simply scanned and gave me back the passport, still don't know why.

I understand EU citizens (EU passport holders) use the eGates, and then have to demonstrate the residence requirement differently for this application but it is not the case for everyone.

In the form, you still have to manually input the absences in the qualifying period. Can even skip some if you don't remember or don't have the details and the application should proceed.

Not a problem. Declare all your absences anyway. P60s not stritcly needed, UKVI would contact you if there was a gap in their records.
