Home office requested council to return the citizenship certificate without any reason

Hi all,

Me and my family (wife and 1 child) received home office atlas email approval for citizenship on 12th Nov. as mentioned in the email I contacted the council to book the citizenship ceremony. Unfortunately, home office requested council to return the certificates the same day when it was delivered to council without any explanation.

I don’t know what happened it is a pretty straightforward application 5yr tier 2 skilled + 12 months ILR.

I have been chasing home office for an update, contacted them at citizenship.support@homeoffice.gov.uk on 25th Nov and have been chasing every couple of days for an update but haven’t heard back from them. I am not sure how to get help here.

I waited until 25th Nov as council initially said they haven’t received the certificates and it may take couple of weeks. Upon constant follow up council checked and told me about the return situation on 29th Nov.

Has anyone experienced similar issue and how did you manage to get this resolved. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you. I was planning to do the same. However wanted to check if anyone in the forum had similar experience. I’m planning to wait till end of this week before approaching the MP and raising a complaint.

I haven't seen a similar case reported in the forum in the last few months.
