has anyone who applied for their naturalisation for british citisenship in January 2024 recieved it as yet? i applied on the 20th of January did my biometrics on the 16th of February and have yet to received mine as yet. I've had chase the home office thru emails only to get the usual template style generic responses I've even contacted my local MP and they gave him the same generic response.

I'm curious is anyone else having problems with delays or is it just me? I've seen on another board that other people who've applied in January like me are facing the same issue.

here is the last email i got back from home office:

Thank you for your email seeking an update on your application for British citizenship.

As previously advised on the 4th November, we are conducting a series of mandatory checks and enquires as part of your application, and these are still on-going

We are unable to give you any further information at this stage. Please be assured that we will endeavour to conclude your application at the earliest opportunity, and we will contact you again if we require you to provide any further information to support your application.

Please be reminded that emails sent from the Nationality Casework teams could arrive at your email account and then may be redirected to your spam/junk email folder/s by your mailbox provider. You are therefore advised to regularly check these folders for emails from your allocated caseworker/case working team.

I have applied in June 2023, still no decision.

I have emailed furthernationality numerous times and made many complaints but still recieved the same generic response.
MP also recieved same response.

Applied for SARU but the document they sent me doesnt really say where is the hold up.

Something to note is my application is through EU settlement schem right which I noticed in other threads is often slower than other routes. My friend with TIER2 visa pathway got his citizenship approved in 3 months.

I feel left out, frustrated and hope less. There is nothing you can really do for them to chase it up. I think the delay is likely dependant on who and where is the caseworker. There is nothing you can do but wait.

I have given up.

You can lodge a complaint, I suggest you do that actually, as they will need to respond and then you can request a review of the complaint. You applied a year and a half ago - it is high time they give you an outcome.

UPDATE:

after chasing the home office for months sending in complaints and asking for a review of the complaint {which i have yet to get a response for}.

I've finally gotten a new response from CT8caseworkenquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk where they were just asking me to confirm my address hopefully this is some progress its been a whole year already.

they said the following:

I refer to your application for registration as a British citizen.
I hope this email finds you well.
Could you confirm that the address we have for you is correct and still current:

update received this email from home office as a response to a complaint i sent:

Thank you for your email correspondence of 17, 23 December 2024 and 06 January 2025. I am conducting an independent review of your complaint following your further submissions.

Your complaint

Further to our correspondence in relation to the delay in reaching a decision on your Naturalisation as a British citizenship application. You have stated that you applied for Naturalisation on 20 January 2024 and you are very disappointed with how the Home Office is handling your application. You say it has been almost a year and you would like come clarity on your case instead of constant generic replies as it has been mentally draining waiting on a decision. You further state you are now feeling frustrated and would like clear answers as to why you application is taking so long.

My decision

Having investigated your concerns, I can confirm as previously advised the approval of a British citizenship application is not an automatic process. We must make a number of enquiries to ensure that applicants satisfy statutory requirements of the British Nationality Act 1981 and the policy which governs decisions taking using this Act. Some enquiries can sometimes take longer than anticipated, and therefore some applications may take longer than six months to decide.

We appreciate this will be frustrating, however, it is not possible to proceed to decision while any such enquiries remain outstanding and there is nothing we can do to speed up the process.

However, further to the above, I can confirm the additional background checks carried out on your application are now complete and records show your application for Naturalisation as British Citizen has been concluded on 08 January 2025.

The decision notification letter has been dispatched to you via Royal Mail post on 15 January 2025 to the following address:

Additionally, the invitation letter to attend the citizenship ceremony will be sent to you by email within two weeks of the decision notification date. Once received, you may proceed to book a citizenship ceremony with your Local Authority (LA).

We do advise not to contact your local authority until you receive a Citizenship Ceremony Invitation Letter confirming that your certificate has been despatched to the authority and that you should approach them to book a ceremony.

Your continued patience and understanding has been greatly appreciated.

I hope my response has answered your concerns and clarifies the position in this matter.

While I understand this may not be the outcome you had expected, there are no grounds to warrant further consideration of your case and I am satisfied with the decision not to uphold your complaint.

Congratulations! Glad you received a positive outcome. You will soon be able to book your ceremony.
