Hello admin,
We are applying for our son who was born abroad and got ILE.
Parents got their BC through naturalization recently and we wanted to register for our son's BC.

Since the parents are not British by descent, we choose the option 'apply at the discretion of HO'.
But, we are asked about the applicant's grandparents' details as if the parents got their citizenship through descent. Have mentioned the exact wording below.

The application asks as follows even though we selected the 'apply at the discretion' option

Provide details of your grandparent from whom your mother or father derived British citizenship by descent.

We are confused. Please advise.

Just say N/A. You will provide evidence that you naturalised and that will be enough. The form asks for details to cover all possible tracks to registration.

Thank you for your quick response.
I understand that the application covers all possible cases. But the application does not have the Grandparents' details N/A option, it has only the option "I do not know these details".

Let me choose the 'I do not know the details' which is not really the case. :)
Thanks for the clarification.

You can explain in a cover letter why you did not provide the details they asked.
