Married 11 years back and change of name in passport

Hi - I wanted to change name in my British Passport to adopt my spouse last name based on marriage certificate, but I got married 11 years back. Is marriage certificate still a valid document and process to go for name change or do I need to use deed poll process to change my name and then apply for British Passport?

I didn’t adopt as I was not a British citizenship earlier and getting it changed in my home country first when I am not there was very challenging. If I would have changed my name between naturalisation and passport that was something I didn’t want to do.

It depends how you want to change your last name. Are you simply taking your husband's last name? Also do you still have a passport from your home country, or can obtain one? If so, I would go down the deed poll way as it will be dated more recently and it would be a motivation why you can't provide your home country passport in your new name.

Hi yes it’s the case of merely adopting husbands name. I have surrendered my Indian passport and I can’t get it back. So will marriage certificate work?
