Hi All,

I got my British Nationality in 2020 before that I had BRP card for Indefinite leave to remain. Now I was cleaning my stuff and found I never sent back my Old BRP card to home office just google it found you should sent within 5 working day's. After you receive the Nationality certificate. What shall I do now I have british passport as well got few years ago shall I just safely discard that card because it's 5 years now.

Thanks in advance

Do you have children whose claim to being British depends on you having ILR at the time of their birth?

In either case you can just keep it for your records and not use it, or discard it if you prefer. Very unlikely anything will happen, people don't normally get prosecuted for keeping their BRP.

Hi,

Yes I have children but both have british passport as they born in this country.

One child born before ILR but claimed Nationality as born in this country and one child was automatic British national as born after ILR but both has British passport.

I will keep the BRP for the reference

Thanks again

Keep the BRP just in case second child needs to prove their nationality through your BRP.
