Hi,
I have ILR since last year and am up for citizenship application this year. I was a director of a company that went into administration (I resigned a few months before the company went into administration), How can this affect my application and what should I do to strengthen my application? Thanks

Recommend you review the section "Financial Soundness" in the Good Character Guidance:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -soundness
I think it's best to explain what happened - stick to the facts including financial impacts.
The last para is interesting:
"However, where the person was made bankrupt or their company went into liquidation through little or no fault of their own, the application will not normally be refused. For example, they may have simply been a victim of the poor business decisions of others or their business has been severely affected by an economic downturn."

Thanks for the reply, just 2 follow-up questions
- As I resigned months before the company went into administration and it was being run by other directors I still need to explain in my application?
- In your experience, what has previously happened in similar cases?
Thank you

If you weren't actually involved in the administration proceedings then I doubt this needs to be mentioned.
Can't comment on similar scenarios - we rely on what members divulge on these forums.
There are occasional inquiries relating to company administration/bankruptcies but it's not that common.
