Life in the UK Test & Language Requirement

Hi, This is my first post so I hope I have put it in the correct area. I am currently helping my ex-husband to apply for his UK citizenship. He currently has ILR but I cant find a date that this was granted on. We married in 2010, he was given a NI number in July 2010 and he has a Life in the UK Pass Notification Letter from March 2012. My question is does he need to also need to take a speaking and listening qualification at B1 level? On his Life in the UK certificate it states ' Your success at this test also demonstrates that your level of competence in English meets the required standard for neutralisation or indefinite leave to remain. No further proof of this is needed' However on the UK Gov website where I am completing his application everything seems to be suggesting that he also needs proof of B1 level English. I can't work out if the rules have simply changed since he passed his Life in the UK test and don't want to complete his application, make the payment and find that he does not satisfy all criteria and loose the payment. Any advice is gratefully received. Thanks

The LITUK is ok to use - it doesn't expire.
The statement on the test certificate re. English test is no longer relevant.
If he didn't do a B1 test for ILR, he needs to take B1 now as it's a requirement for naturalisation.
Check with Trinity College London (
https://www.trinitycollege.com/qualific ... itizenship).
Other test centres are available. The fee is £150 - only book through Home Office approved companies.

You need to retrieve proof of his ILR and it would be useful to have a date for it too. Does he have a vignette on his passport, or a BRP?

Hi Thank for the replies, I think I will need to support him to book a B1 test, kicking myself that we didn't apply for citizenship sooner. I don's seem to have a piece of paper confirming/proof of ILR but he does have a BRP, nothing in his passport, just the new online one.

Do you at least remember the month/year ILR was granted? He will need to submit the BRP as evidence of ILR - hold on tight to that.
