Birth registration for a child born in UK

Hello Everyone,

Firstly, thank you everyone for your contribution in helping us. Second, we've already submitted our application for our kids birth registration (born in UK) but like to clear some doubts as some of our friends have conflicting opinions on the documents required that should have been submitted along the application.

We received our ILR last year in June, 2024 but we couldn't apply for our kids birth registration straight away as it expensive and we were off around 8k pounds for ILR. We waited a while and applied for their birth registration last month. We've submitted everything that was asked (I went through the definition and explaination on this forum for every document).
However, as our previous visa expired, the kid's BRP (then on dependent visa), we didn't submit those along with the application but mentioned the number (BRP) in the application. Both our kids have our original passports.
Also, I didn't buy their health insurance during this period (since our visa expired till the application) but availed NHS services (mostly A&E) for them. Can this lead to our application being rejected?
Thanks in advance.

We advise not to listen to friends or people that may be uninformed. As your child was born in the UK they have an entitlement to registration that is not affected by their visa expiring (or by you not getting health insurance, though you probably should do it should you need the NHS for an emergency). If the HO needs any more documents they will contact you. If you followed advice from the forum and/or the official guidance no need to second guess yourself.

Avoid listening to friends. You haven't used the NHS, so you owe the government nothing.

Their MN application should be fine. :)

If you have been billed by the NHS make sure those bills are paid.

Form MN1 is not for "birth registration"!

Registering a birth of a child refers to when you obtain child's birth certificate from your local authority registry office.
Form MN1 is for "registering a child as British citizen". >>>> which you are doing at the moment.
Completely separate processes - these terms tend to be mixed up.

Thanks again. But I'm surprised, I haven't received any bills.

Maybe try checking with the hospital if they need to invoice you. Personally I'd have secured private health insurance in your position to rest easy.

If you used just A&E then nothing to worry about,
Services that are free to everyone
Some services or treatments carried out in an NHS hospital are exempt from charges, so they're free to all.

These include:

A&E services – not including emergency treatment if admitted to hospital
family planning services – this does not include abortions or infertility treatment
treatment for most infectious diseases, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
treatment required for a physical or mental condition caused by torture, female genital mutilation (FGM), domestic violence or sexual violence – this does not apply if you have come to England to seek this treatment
