The official website (https://www.gov.uk/right-of-abode/apply ... ntitlement) states 5 weeks - other may share their experience.

Baby will be British so can't get an immigration visa. Others may comment on the Indian citizenship aspect.
Thank You.

India does not allow dual citizenship. When you surrendered/renounced your Indian passport there is a form that you agree that your child cannot not be an Indian.

This question would be better asked in the Other countries subforum as it pertains to Indian legislation, not British.

Get Indian passport for your baby and then get RoA sticker in the passport — the baby is good to go and settle in the UK. But you will need to renew it each time the passport expires.
Can I ask a question (just out of curiosity) — why do you want to keep Indian citizenship for your baby if you want to live in the UK?

We have no intention to stay here after couple of years and will be moving back to home country, Having British citizenship can also add more expense towards the universities fees for children as they will be considered foreign nationals.
I hope that answers your question, Do you think you can provide some timeline if you have applied recently as we have to work out on that as my elder kid school is starting in the month of Sept 2025.

IF you can get an Indian passport, your child has to choose between Indian Citizenship and British citizenship at the age of 18.

CoE RoA applications take a few weeks. You obviously need an India passport first before you can apply and you might experience problems getting the passport because you are British. Plan accordingly

Thank You for your reply,

Father is British Citizen by naturalisation and mother is still Indian citizen, Do you have any references here to point out?

My son's Indian passport renewal was affected like many reported in this thread below and got him a British passport. The consulate fixed it after 6 months but it can happen in the future

I didnt get any response from HCI but someone went to court and got it fixed.
India does not allow dual citizenship and they get angry when people find a loop hole to keep dual citizenship.

This is crazy, I have no idea how this will go, I just hope smoething might have evolved but when I see HCI website they have clearly mentioned this -
Kindly note that if any person (either FATHER OR MOTHER) has ceased to be a citizen of India under sub-section (1) of Section 8 of the Citizenship
Act, 1955 due to renouncement of Indian citizenship, every minor child of that person shall cease to be a citizen of India under sub- section (2) of
Section 8 of the Citizenship Act, 1955. However, such child may, within one year after attaining full age, make a declaration in the prescribed form
and manner that he/ she wishes to resume Indian citizenship.
