Hi. Can I use a GP Doctor who’s a friend as my second referee?
The requirement states that the second referee must be:

“a person of any nationality with professional standing.”

Has anyone successfully used a GP Doctor as their second referee?

You can't use a GP as a professional referee. It is clearly stated in the guidance.

The guidance says:
Cannot be -
be a doctor, unless they state that they know you well (for example they’re a good friend) and that they recognise you easily from your photo

I only copy /paste this as I too intend to use my GP friend as a referee but have added that they know me as a ‘friend’

A GP can be your referee but not the professional one, as it is not a profession on the recognised list. It can be your other referee but not your professional one.

Oh I see! Now I understand and hopefully OP is clearer too. Thanks.
