Royal Mail lost my partner's BRP when they return it to HO

Dear Forum,

Please help us on this matter. My partner recently naturalized as a British Citizen, and they have posted back their expired BRP card to Home Office within 5 working days of their citizenship ceremony, as requested. However, today Royal Mail admitted that they have lost their BRP and therefore cannot deliver it back to Home Office. My partner is now worried that they may be fined 1000 pounds, so what should they do now please?

They have reported the above loss of their expired BRP online via the HO website, is there anything else they should do/contact?

Thank you.

Easy to say but please relax….
BRPs are history now as everything is gone digital.
Also, on this forum we have never seen a credible report that someone was actually fined for this.
I would close the matter without any further correspondence. You are no longer subject to any immigration controls.

What you may try doing is get reimbursement from Royal Mail as they acknwoledged they lost your item. But no worries from the HO side of things.

Thank you both,

My partner called HO today and was told they would not be fined because they are a BC now and have also reported the loss of their expired BRP card to home office online. Hope this information will help people in the future.
