Advice on ILR vs British Citizenship Registration for Child born outside UK

Hello,

I would appreciate your guidance regarding my daughter’s immigration status.

She was born in India in 2016 and she came to UK in Jun 2018 along with her mother(my wife). I came to UK in Mar-2017(one year prior to them). She is currently in the UK as ILR dependant, which is due to expire on 25th April 2025.

I got Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in 2022 as soon as I completed 5 years on Tier 2 General Visa. My wife got ILR in 2023 as soon as she completed 5 years. My daughter continued in her dependent visa. We are now considering applying for naturalisation.

Given these circumstances, is it possible to register my daughter as a British citizen instead of applying for ILR along with my(her father) Naturalisation application by 25th April 2025?

Thank you for your assistance.

As you both are on ILR and you're daughter can directly apply for citizenship and save money on the ILR application.

Not true. Children born outside the UK are expected to be settled before being eligible for registration.

Only true if the parents and children have completed 10 years of legal residence in the UK.

Thank you @euphoria1947. I thought about the cost. Hence I asked about one of the parent applying for British Citizenship via naturalisation and directly Register my daughter without ILR if possible.

Thank you for the clarification @contorted_svy and @secret.simon
