Family UK Citizenship Application

I am currently applying for UK citizenship for myself (All of us have an ILR, and completed one year after obtaining ILR and haven't exceeded 90 days outside the UK during this year), my wife, and our two children. Once we have submitted our applications, we plan to go on holiday. I want to confirm if it is possible for me to return alone to collect our passports and complete any necessary paperwork on behalf of my family, or if all family members are required to be present for these steps. We will attend the citizenship ceremony, after which my family will continue their holiday abroad.

Can someone advise me on which steps require their presence and which can be done by me?

Just need to plan our holiday around this.

I assume you refer to British passports?
You can't "collect" them - you need to be British to apply for passports, which is after the ceremony.
How long are you planning to be on holiday? UKVI target for processing applications is six months (can be faster or sometimes longer), then wait time for the ceremony and then passport application.

Firstly, although you may have made the applications for naturalisation at the same time, they can be assigned to different caseworkers and you could get responses/approvals at different times.

Secondly, at the citizenship ceremony, you would get a naturalisation certificate (and registration certificates for children). Once you get the naturalisation and registration certificates, you will need to make a separate application for British passports. Along with the passport applications, you will need to submit all non-cancelled (including expired) passports of any other nationality that you hold. So you may not be able to travel abroad while your British passport applications are in progress.

Thirdly, there is no fast-track/priority process for first adult British passports.

So you will need to plan your vacations in such a manner as to plan for substantial periods of time in the UK in between.

Are you asking for your self? Because your previous posts indicate you and your wife only recently got ILR, not 12 months ago!

All of this - but also you must be in the UK when you apply for your first British passport if your citizenship has been obtained under Section 6(1). The adults have to be in the UK in these circumstances or future intentions may come under scrutiny.

Yeah i'm asking for a friend, i told him about this forum, and he asked me if can ask this question, and found it easier to talk about it as its for me, rather than saying i'm asking for "a friend" :).
