Hi Everyone,

Hope you are well.

Could you advise please what are the impacts of the new immigration white paper (or potential ones) on the naturalisation process.

I am due to apply later this year and there are so many different opinions on social media some saying that the 10year rule will be applied retrospectively and imminently and others saying the opposite so I really dont know who to believe.

Please enlighten me.

Nothing is in law yet. Don't follow the speculations going on, just consult the current guidance to know what the current process is. If you are not eligible for naturalisation yet, no point in getting stressed. From what I currently understand, the new rules would make 10 years necessary for ILR, not for citizenship anyway.
