Citizenship Approved – No Certificate Received, No Response to Emails – What Can I Do?

Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out for advice as I'm running out of options and this situation is starting to seriously affect our plans.

On 20 April 2025, I received an email confirming the approval of British citizenship applications for my kids. The message stated that no ceremony was required and that the citizenship certificates would be posted to the address provided in the application.
I am pleased to tell you that your application for British citizenship has been approved.

You do not need to attend a citizenship ceremony. You will soon receive your certificate which is the legal evidence that you are a British citizen. We will send this to the postal address you provided in your application.

As of today, the certificates have still not arrived, and I’ve had no success getting any information or assistance.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

On 15 May, I sent an inquiry to FurtherNationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk.

On 20 May, after calling the UKVI helpline (0300 790 6268), I was told that certificates delivery takes no more than 3 weeks, they can't help by phone and that I should email citizenship.support@homeoffice.gov.uk instead — which I did.

I followed up again with call and email on 27 May after still receiving no reply.

Unfortunately, I've received no response to any of these emails.

I’m now stuck — the helpline won’t assist and insists email is the only route, but the email queries are going unanswered. I’m becoming increasingly concerned that the certificates may have been lost or sent to the wrong address. And this delay ruins all summer travel plans, as we can’t move forward with passport applications without the certificates.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or know what else I can do? How long did it take for others to receive their certificates after approval?

Any advice or shared experiences would be hugely appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Did you apply only for children or for parents and children at the same time?

We received ILR this January and applied for British citizenship only for our children, as they were born in the UK six months before we got ILR.

Have you opened a complaint? Worth trying to as your MP to chase this too.

Thank you so much — I actually wasn’t aware that there was a formal complaint process for this kind of situation.

I’ve just looked it up — is this the one you’re referring to?

I’ll definitely give it a try. Also didn’t realise that an MP could help with this sort of thing — I’ll look into contacting mine as well. Really appreciate your suggestions!

Yes, that is the correct procedure. Hope they start responding.
