Hi, everyone.

I'm planning to submit my naturalisation application again in September. I received a refusal letter back in 2020, but it mentioned that I could likely be successful on September 16, 2025. The reason for the initial refusal was that I served a three-week prison sentence in 2015, and according to the rules before 2023, I had to wait ten years before I could reapply. Now, with the law having changed, I'm not sure what my chances are.

Most solicitors I have spoken with can't take my case at the moment due to a backlog. And the ones that can are charging anywhere from £3000 to £5000; that's not including the naturalisation fees.

I have read most of the replies on here; it just seems I need to write a cover letter explaining all my convictions.

Any tips and advice are welcomed. Thanks in advance for your

Can you please copy paste the full refusal letter with personal details redacted, and add any further info on your good character? Have you had any other fines, bankruptcies, convictions etc? Have you done some volunteering or anything that shows you are now reformed? What was the reason that you were convicted?
