Do I have to wait for 12 months if I am married to a newly British Citizen

Hi. I need help understanding Citizenship while married to a British Citizen.

My husband and I were both on ILR. Then my husband got his British citizenship. After that, I got my ILR. It means that at the time I got my ILR, my husband was not a British citizen yet. But now he is. Can I apply immediately for Citizenship? Or does it matter that when the 12-month waiting period started, he was not a Citizen yet?

Thanks.

You cam apply now if you meet all the 3 year residence required.

That is a great thing. Thank you! Would the same apply to our kids? They got their ILR with me. Or do they need to wait for the 5-year period to close? The gov website talks about being "married to a British Citizen", but I could not find information about having a British parent fitting my situation.

Thanks a lot.

Depends how old the children are.

If under 18, there is no 12 month wait period applicable to register as British.

If a child is 18 or over, then they have to wait 12 months to apply for naturalisation as they are an adult.
