Applying for citizenship (child with ILR born outside the UK)

Hello,
Thank you for the helpful forum. My son is under 18 and has ILR for 8 months now. His dad got citizenship by naturalisation a few weeks ago and his mum already applied for citizenship after completing 12 months on ILR. Could you please advise whether we can apply for British citizenship for our son now, or whether he must first complete 12 months on ILR?
Thank you in advance.

Just to add that we have all been living in the UK since 2017.

The waiting period applies to adult applications only.
There’s no such requirement for children’s’ registration as British.
Also note that once turned 18 a child is an adult and needs to comply with all naturalisation requirements.

Thank you so much for your response. Do you mean that we can apply for him now, please?

Yes. He could have applied when the father applied for citizenship, if he and mother had ILR at the time.
