Application for Naturalisation 1 year after ILR

Hello experts,
I am completing my application for Naturalisation and since the online form allows me to add applicants, I have added my wife as well and I am trying to complete all the questions on the form but I need your kind expert help with the below. For context we both are settled, myself since September 2024 and my wife since December 2024.

1- Our passports were no longer stamped upon re-entry since Aug 2024 since we've had the e-visa. Can you please advise what should we submit as evidence that we have in the country for the last year? The application states that households bills and bank statements are not considered as a proof and to use letters from employer or government department instead. The problem is that my wife has not been working between Aug 2024 and May 2025 so how could she prove that she was in the UK since December 2024 (considering that her continuous residence was established up until Dec 2024 with her ILR application being approved)

2- For some reason at the list of required documents, it states that I need to provide a color copies of all pages of my passport, but it doesn't request the same for my wife, it simply asks for a Proof of Mrs X identity and nationality, such as a valid passport. I am worried that I have made something wrong in the application that is leading to this difference in wording.

I really appreciate all the efforts you put into helping us, we have applied for ILR and obtained it by following your advise on here.

1. The evidence is still the passport pages for the qualifying period. It doesn't matter it has not been stamped in the last year. No employment or government letters are required. There is no employment requirement for naturalisation.

2. Both need to send the same documents: passport(s) pages, referees form, etc. The applications will be assessed individually despite filling out both forms with the same account.

Thank you lolo2 for your swift reply.

Regarding 1:understand that employement is not a requirement for naturalisation, however the checklist on the form states that "if your passport has not been stamped, then you need to use employers letters or government letters as a proof" hence I was asking what are our options since my wife doesn't have either of these. But I guess we will rely on just the passport pages as you have kindly advised.

Regarding 2: totally agree, hence I was confused why the checklist didn't include a requirement for my wife's passport. I was concerned that I have filled something incorrectly that led to the system omitting this requirement from the check list.

Another thing I noticed is how the days of absence are calculated, leading to duplicating the number of days.
Suppose I left the UK for 10 days and visited two different countries during that trip. The form asks for the date you left the UK and the date you returned. Since I have to enter both destinations, it seems like the system counts 10 days for each, effectively totaling 20 days instead of the actual 10.
Is the Home Office aware of this issue? Should I include a cover letter explaining this to avoid a miscalculation?

Thanks again!

1. That checklist is not exhaustive. The 'not stamped' passport statement is mostly referred to applicants such as EU and other citizens who use the eGates and don't get their passports stamped. My passport didn't get stamped after getting ILR and my citizenship application proceeded with no issues.

2. Same as above - regarding the online checklist.

You need to input absences from the UK i.e. when you left and returned - as indicated in the form. It doesn't matter how many or what countries you visited during the absence.

For example: if you left on 01/12/2025 for Portugal and returned on 10/12/2025 but also visited Spain and France, in the form you only enter Portugal between 01/12 and 10/12 and it will be fine. No need to put all destinations. No need to add any cover letter explaining this either, the Home Office know the rules.

Thank you once again Lolo2, I have amended the absences following your advice.

Last question please, on the downloaded Referee forms, it says that they need to write the applicant's name on the back of the photo and glue it in the square where indicated, I believe this is a legacy instruction as currently we need to upload the forms so the written names on the back of the photo won't appear anyway. Should the referees write our names under the square designated for the photo instead?

Thanks!

No need to write names under photos!
