Traveling overseas on the day of naturalization application

Hi,

I arrived in the UK on 13 January 2021 on Tier 2 visa, then switched to GTV on 16 November 2023, and subsequently got ILR on 29 July 2024. I understand that I will become eligible to apply for naturalization on 13 January 2026 (5 years after arrival in the UK).

I have an important 10-days overseas trip which requires me to fly out on 13 January 2026 (morning). Can I please check if I can submit my naturalization application on 13 January 2026 (at around 12-1am) and then travel in the morning? Or is it advisable that I apply for naturalization only after returning from my trip?

Thanks

You're free to travel after application submission.

If you're still concerned it would be better to wait for when you return and save yourself of a headache.

Just to be safe, don't travel on the day you submit. You do declare you are in the UK when you make the application, best not to mix things up. Wait until your return, if that doesn't affect your absences requirements.
