I have to admit that I am sometimes confused about how I should answer some questions in my naturalisation application.

(1) Under that part of the application headed “Convictions and other penalties” it asks, in part “At any time have you ever had ……..a penalty for a driving offence, for example disqualification for speeding.”. On the basis of the example, I would answer “No”.

(2) Under the document “Nationality policy - good character” it says ,in part, “All fines must be declared, and any failure to declare may result in an application being refused on the grounds of deception”. This suggests I should be answering “Yes”.

My offences are as follows:


(1) 2014 - Fine for driving in bus lane, no loss of points
(2) 2020 - Fine for driving in bus lane, no loss of points (different cities)
(3) 2021 - Speeding 37mph in 30mph zone - No fine, nor loss of points. I attended a 3 hour National Speed Awareness course.
(4) 2022 - Fine for mistakenly entering a ULEZ area in my diesel motor vehicle, no loss of points.
(5) 2025 - Fine for illegal parking, no loss of points.



I have assumed that all of these need to be included. I’d appreciate your views?

Most of these are PCNs, rather than fines. As long as you paid all of them. No need to declare them.

May I just confirm - you said "most of these.....". Are there others for which I should be declaring?

This COULD have been a FPN but it wasn't because you took the course. so no need to declare it.

All the others are PCNs which don't need declaring.

I submitted my application a week ago. The following day I booked my biometrics appointment and then started to upload my documents (passport, referees and a short cover note). I made the mistake of assuming the documents could be uploaded one-by-one and I uploaded the passport first. I soon found out that it was now not possible to upload the other two documents. I contacted the company accepting the uploads and begged and pleaded - all to no avail.

It appears as though all I can do is wait for the UKVI case worker to contact me and ask for the referees.

Is there any other option?

Thanks. I have already contacted the two "Enquiries" addresses but, based on their rote reply and reference to 20 days, I don't expect to get a reply anytime soon. I have taken your suggestion and written to "Citizen support". I have to say, I am somewhat surprised that there isn't a simpler way of remedying my mistake. I have now put all three documents into a single pdf document and all I need is a place to send it.

You have sent your documents to all the addresses we know of. Notoriously their reply time is very slow. If UKVI need information they will contact you rather than reject your application outright.
