Query for Citizenship of GTV dependent child born in UK

Hi,

Hope everyone is well. I've been on a GTV and will qualify for ILR on 25 December 2026. My wife is on a dependent visa. I just became a father on 12 September 2025 first time as my son was born in UK. I applied for GTV dependent visa of my son on 26th January (two days ago).

Due to current health of my wife and her need to prepare for her medical exam being conducted in July 2026, I would need to take both back to home country in February and leave my newborn for sometime (from February to August this year) to his grandparents so my wife can come back and give her exams.

If my newborn gets his visa successfully and stays out of UK more than 180 days, will this affect his citizenship when I'll get ILR in Dec 2026, or he would be eligible for citizenship without any complication in Dec 2026?

Also, do you advise me to not leave UK with my newborn after he gives his biometrics, until he gets his visa?

Thanks in advance :)

1. Absence not an issue.

2. The baby cannot leave the UK while an application is pending with UKVI. It will be considered automatically withdrawn if the applicant leaves the uk.
