Hello,
Has anyone received a MN1 approval even after the child’s Skilled Worker dependant visa expired while the MN1 application was still pending?
My daughter's dependant visa is expiring on 14 July 2026 and we submitted her MN1 application on 5 June 2026. She was born in the UK in 2022. Her father got his ILR on 3 June 2026.
Thanks

this will be fine if she respects the statutory requirements. You need to secure private health insurance and of course child is not allowed to travel.

Just curious: but the child still can travel abroad, the problem will be with returning? Unless the child gets approved and someone will bring a new passport for the child

The child can't come back into the country. I wouldn't want to have to explain myself to the HO in such a situation. Plus child would need to apply for their first passport from abroad, which notoriously takes a lot longer, so where is the child staying for that long, and with whom? Best not to take chances and stay in the country until the approval comes through.

Many, including myself! MN1 application approved almost a month after visa expiry. We had taken out private medical insurance as suggested in this forum, but fortunately, did not need for long.
It should be fine as long as the child stays in the UK before getting new British passport.
