Hi,

Myself and my wife are on ILR status since June 2007. Our child was born in India in June 2009. My wife was in India during this period i.e., just less than 6 months this year.

I am planning to apply for British Citizenship this year and wanted to know if I can apply for my child along with myself or if I need to first get my citizenship before applying for the child's visa.

Another question is when can I apply for my wife's citizenship considering that she has not been in the UK between April & october 2009?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I believe your child can apply with you under section 3(1) http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... de_mn1.pdf and should be granted if you are granted.

With regards your wife, her absences from the UK need to be a maximum 90 days in her final year. so i would say sometime in July / August next year depending on the exact dates she was away and assumming there arent any further absences.

just a question, any reason why you didnt apply for citizenship earlier, e.g since july 2008

Thanks f2k. Sorry, didn't check this in a while. To be honest there was no reason not to apply earlier. We were just not sure about spending the money for the application then. I will go through the guide and get back with any questions.

Thanks once again.
