hi, i am British & my wife is a non eea national,
she has been in the UK for 7 years, (originally as a student, then set (M) & now on an ILR (applied in august 2009 recieved last month)
can we immediatley apply for naturalisation? since my wife has lived in the uk for over 3 years? or do we need to waint till she has had her ILR for a year?

may I ask if this is applicable to me too?
I was on HSMP for 4 years. got ILR backdates 11/3/09. but i am in the UK since 6/2003(6 years), first was on visiting visa(6 months) and then on limited leave for training post grad doctors(114 months).
my other question is that my husband will be 5 years on 25/3/10, if we to apply togather (to save money) do i need to wait with him or can we apply on11/3/10 ?
thanks

with naturalisation each applicant has to meet the requirements on their own. So you have to do at least 5years including 1year with ILR and Hubby the same. So if you want to apply together then you will have to wait for 25/3/10 when your hubby is eligible. This is probably the way to go as it only delays your application by just 2weeks but save some £600.
I think the main difference you is that the OP is applying as a spouse of a citizen, whereby they can post the naturalisation application minute one gets ILR. For most of people minimum 1yrs ILR requirement dictates when you can apply as by the time you get ILR you would have spent at least 4years anyway
