Naturalisation Application Confusion

Hi,

I'm a little confused after reading the forum as to when should I apply for naturalisation and under what rules. I came to the UK on a spouse visa (settlement) on 14 February 2007, my 3 years stay completes on 14 February 2010.

1. When should I apply and any requirements I need to fulfil before?

2. I'm currently un-employed; will that affect my application if I'm still un-employed at the time of application?

3. Will I have to apply under the new immigration rules of earned citizenship, or will the old rules still be applicable at the time of my application (i.e. application is processed and not have to wait a further 2 years as in earned citizenship)?

Thanks

Assuming you already have ILR and are still married, you can apply in February 2010 under the existing rules. It doesn't matter whether you are employed or not...as long as you have the £720 for the application!

Thanks for you response.

I came in with an ILE and was told in this forum some time back that the ILE will effectively become ILR upon entry once my passport was stamped, I hope that sitll holds true.

I'm still married, and I'll make my application after the 14th of Feburary.

Do I need to do anything else for the application?

Thanks again.

ILR / ILE are more or less the same thing, one is issued incounty (ILR) and the other outside.

The other criteria you will need to satisfy can be found on the link below

It would appear by the date of entry that you should be subject to the Life in the UK test requirement. Did your entry visa say ILE (KOL) req?

No, my visa does not state - ILE (KOL) req.

Have you passed the Life in the UK test then (KOL)? You'll need this for your BC application.
