I don't think you fall under this category. One year free from immigration control is also required. I would suggest have good look again on what you have read earlier. Unless you have been married to a BC or an EEA national or any other work catagory, your chances are low.

yeah actually i know that last one year i have to have visa thats free from immigration control. but i am just wondering if that period as a student visa count in this five years.?

from the paper i understand it as i said, but when i showed to my english friend, she says no it doesnt count. :(

to make it clearer, lets say
i have been lving here for 6 years with student visa and if i get indefinite leave to remain for next one year, can i apply for naturalization?

thnks again in advance..

It's ten years on student visa for ILR, one more year for citizenship, under the ten year legal stay rule.

I'm afraid student isn't a path to citizenship so u'll have to wait or switch to another category (and still wait!) or marry!

i guess i misexplained again..
im not saying i intend to go for ILR with student visa, im simply saying that after having 6 years of student visa if anychance i get one more year visa but this time ILR can i go for naturalisation..
6 years student + ILR ( 1 years) --> am i qualified for Naturalisation?

london77, as already said, a student visa does not lead to ILR, except under the Long Residence category. And without ILR you cannot apply for Naturalisation.

So 10 years for Long Residence ILR, plus 1 year. But by then the law will be rather different.

im not saying that it leads ILR
i am saying that if i get ILR in one way or another and plus my 6 year student visa can i qualify for naturalisation?
I DO NOT INTEND TO GET ILR WITH STUDENT VISA....

So please explain how you are intending to get ILR?

Your question makes no sense, sorry.

Do you mean, if you get indefinite leave to remain in the next year (which is unlikely to say the least), can you apply for naturalisation, the answer is, well it depends on how you got ILR.

You need to give more details.

Also typing in capitals is often seen as the equivalent to shouting at someone when it is done on a forum.

If u marry now, after two years on Spouse visa you can apply for ILR and Naturalise at the same time.

So that's two years from now and about £1500 at once.

If u switch to work-based visa, it will be five years from now.

Via student or any other legal stay it's four more years for ILR, wait a year then naturalise, as said before.

Yes you can subject to some other criteria which I can't be bothered outlining.

It has to be real ILR not fake.

No, simply because with 6 years student visa you can't possibly have ILR. Simple as that.

london77, do appreciate that unless you give more information, this topic will get closed. That is, we are not going to go round in circles forever.

well u are free to close it, as it seems i cant get info anyway, and its true its circling nothing more.. i am saying this ILR is not important, just forget it and simply tell me if it is possible to be qualified with 6 years student and 1 year ILR, but still people asking me how am i planning to get ILR. include you still saying "No, simply because with 6 years student visa you can't possibly have ILR. Simple as that.
" even tough i stressed this out " i am not trying to get ILR with student visa"
i know my english is horrible but still i beleive i wa clear about my question..
when it comes to why am i asking this question here,
thats becuase i called Home office few times and each time they gave me different answer, but in all calls they told me that as long as im here legally, student or not this years i have spent here counts for 5 years condition, but i have to have 1 more year as ILR.
So, even home office told me that why am i asking here, thats because few friends of mine told me that that years as student dont count, and they told me after reading home office form on such issue.

sadly didnt get my answer here, but as i expressed before u r free to close this title.

thanks again for everyone who spent time and showed interest in the subject..
regards...

Well thanks for telling us it was a hypothetical question that you and your mates were discussing rather than your actual situation.

You did get an answer. You just did not like the answer you got.
