Hey all,

What are the current guidelines on how long you have to wait after obtaining your ILR before applying for citizenship?

Thanks

It depends. If you are the spouse or civil partner of a British citizen, then you may be eligible for naturalisation immediately after you are granted ILR (provided that you meet the other requirements). Otherwise, you will need to have ILR for one year before you apply.

Does the use of the term spouse/civil partner connote that unmarried partners are locked out of this route?

Unmarried partners have to satisfy the standard requirements.
