Hi There
My husband and I got ILR in May 2008 and are now planning to apply for British Citizenship.
I work full time but unfortunately due to the present downturn, my husband was made redundant few months ago. Will his job status have impact on the citizenship application?
Please suggest if my husband's unemployment have any negative impact on the citizenship application result. Would it be better to apply after he finds a job?

Thanks in advance.

Is your husband on the dole?
That may have an impact on his naturalisation application.

Being in employment is not a factor in the criteria or eligibility for naturalisation. I don't think being on unemployment benefits would have a negative impact on an application either — would it?

Yes, My husband is claiming Job Seekers Allowance.
Can someone let me know if this will have any negative impact on the application?
Just to let you know, There is no question about claiming benefits in the form AN (application form for British citizenship)

Thanks in advance
