Which council for citizenship ceremony, request for feedback

Hello all,

I have seen couple of posts here from people having difficulty getting appointment at the Birmingham council for citizenship ceremony.

Since one can select any council to have the ceremony at, provided they have written which council at the time of the citizenship application, I was wondering if we can get a sense of which councils are easier to deal with at the ceremony stage and which are not.

The request for those who have gone through the citizenship ceremony, if you can post your experiences. How easy was it to get appointments, how quick was the appointment, if you did the normal ceremony or a private one (and cost of the private one), and any other information.

Hopefully this would be useful for those of us who are going to be applying.

Thanks,

Ray

Great idea and I support it. I can recommend the Cambridgeshire County Council. Group ceremonies are in Cambridge on Tuesday afternoons (2pm start). They get fully booked a month in advance.

According to their website, private ceremonies are £100 to £160.

I phoned on 11 Jan this year. They answered right away and I booked the first available ceremony on 9 Feb. I was given good information and instructions, even got an email confirmation.

Ceremony itself was nice, nothing fancy but it was in a nice hall and had good atmosphere.
