Reading was ok. I got appointment the very next day when I called and also had several choices for the time. Parking is within easy walking distance if you park at the Queensgate Car park.
I only saw one other person there for an interview. The man who interviewed me was old school. Not unfriendly but very professional. It was short but quite a lot of questions about mortgages and loans and CC accounts etc. Because we have a joint account and my wife deals with the accounts side of things - I had to think hard to answer all his questions.
But it was over within 10 mins.

Hi,imsi,

how can they know your answers are right or not? Did you give them your bank accounts, mortgage and loan details, or they get these information from somewhere?

Congrats on your prompt approval....its so super quick.I submitted mine the same day you did yours through NCS,and since then i've been addicted to reading other pple's timelines on a daily basis....

What makes me confused is, does the process of the application depend on the state of your application e.g HSMP or SPOUSE?
I was thinking 2yr spouse(married to Bc) should be a bit staight forward than other, looking at the history they will be checking....
And is it adviceable to call them now?....hope it won't be too early?

They have access to detailed credit check reports. I was told all these info are destroyed straight after the interview.

Having followed the forum for the past few weeks, here is my contribution...

NCS or Postal: NCS
Date of submission: 28 July 2010
CRITERIA - 5 years + 1 Year PR (EEA route)
Date of receipt of application at UKBA Liverpool: 29 July 2010
Date of receipt of acknowledgement letter: 7 August 2010 (dated 2 August 2010)
Date of receipt of approval: 26 August 2010 (dated 16 August 2010)
Date of ceremony: 01 September 2010 (private)
Date of passport application : TBD
Date of receipt of letter inviting for passport interview: TBD
Date of passport interview : TBD
Passport received : TBD

A few points:

- Had a liability order from Magistrates court issued last year by local council for unpaid council tax. All was paid following the order. Although this is not considered CCJ as far as I understand, I declared it and following the advice from NCS attached a letter from my council stating my account is up to date.
- Called the HO a few times on the 0151 672 5626 number to get progress status on the application. First time called after 3 weeks and was told they don't give updates before 6 months. Called again 5 minutes later and this time was told a decision was made.
- Got one letter which is a combined approval + invitation letter. Seems that they now wait a week before sending the latter (letter was only sent on Monday 23 August 2010).

Good luck to everyone.

@ Beeba;
I applied a day before you on 20th August and was called by IPS on Tuesday 24th August to send additional letter because I requested to have my documents sent to my work address instead of home address.
Called them again today and was told that they have received my letter and is in progress with the Durham Team and will be in touch as soon as possible.
So I guess they will send letter if not this week or early next week…
So not to worry Beeba, you’ll get it soon enough…

Hi, imsylar,

If they said you need to contact hillingdon council, which means HO sent you Certificate of Naturalisation there. If you want to have ceremory in different council, they will need to post the certificate to a that council, you need to ask them, maybe they will do it, but it is bit complicated, I suggest you just have a ceremory in hillingdon council.

Hi imsylar,

I had originally booked public ceromony on the 7th of September with Hillingdon council over the phone and was told that they dont do private . I walked to the registrar last Thursday to check whether there was any cancellation so i can do it earlier which there werent but was told that they do private ceromony!! so I am now having private ceremony on Thursday the 2nd of September for £100. I know that it is only 5 days difference but i have booked a holiday on the 21st of September so lets hope i will get it by then.

Hi Figsey,
Thanks for sharing that info & I hope u get your passport before your holidays :), I will call hillingdon council tuesday morning and see what dates they have available for private ceremony, if they say they havent got any dates for private ceremony then do u think its worth it to walk in at registrar's office and ask them whether they have any available dates for private ceremony.

Hi imsylar,
If you are in a hurry like me then you should definately make the trip but then you might get a space on the 7th of September for the public one which is not to far away. Let us know how you get on.
