jkmuk wrote:Congratulations to all who have recieved their British passports. Those who recieved it recently can you let us know if it is in the new format announced recently or will the new format be effective only in Oct/2010 as advertised?

If so, is there any point in waiting until Oct to apply for passport? Any suggestions?
No still they are issueing the old style, the new will be introduced in OCT, and I cant see any reason for waiting as there wont be much difference.

The new version of the passport will have:

• A personal details page at the front rather than the back of the passport
• The electronic chip in the back cover
• New page designs

Why are changes being made?

The new passport will continue to meet the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO). The new physical security features in the passport will help fight identity fraud and make it harder to forge.

Rgds.

Hi,

Today I have received Citizenship Invitation letters for my son and I, but not for my wife. We applied together and got acknowledgement and approval with name Mr and Mrs Sawant on letters. One thing I would like to mention that my wife have applied for citizenship on her married name and her Indian passport is on maiden name. However she has mentioned that in the application and we got the approval.

So not sure, the reason is "HO or Royal Mail".

And there are places available on coming Wednesday for ceremony at my council so would like to have ceremony for both of us on Wednesday. Can my wife have ceremony if council have received her citizenship ceremony certificate but we do not have her invitation letter. I will find out from Council on Monday and also from HO. But appreciate if any one have had this experience before.

Regards,
Manish

Documents

Post by khaweriba » Sun Sep 05, 2010 8:20 am

Dear All

I have applied for my son settlment visa from Pakistan. The average visa processing time given on website is 12 Week. I have submitted my original HSMP and ILR letters with the application.

At the same time I am eligible for nationality, 4 years HSMP JR + 1 year ILR.

My question is, may I apply via NCS services for natioinality as the original documents are not required to be submitted. OR do I need the original documents to be shown at NCS (MANDATORILY).

Kindly advise.

If you have completed 1 year on ILR from the date according to the sticker on your passport and if thats not the backdated letter from HO which you have submitted for your son's application. You can apply by post or by NCS as you please as you dont need to provide HSMP letter or ILR letter.

You will need your passports, life in the UK test certificate (if you didnt provide during ILR), photograph and AN form. I suggest you see this

Best of luck

Thanks Beeba for your valuable informatio.

My ILR letter is back dated and needs to include with AN to prove one year time after 4 years HSMP.

As far as I understand the UKBA website information. The documents that we need are

AN form
PASSPORT
ILR LETTER (If back dated)
Photographs
Passed Life in UK test certificate
Tax Documents
Bank Statements.

And if I apply via NCS, all of the orginal documents will be returned after copying, on the spot....Please correct me if my understandings are incorrect.

Appreciate your time and fruitful comments.

How long does it take for the decision letter to arrive? I called HO and was told the decision was made on the 02 Sep 2010. However I am yet to receive any letter from Home office.

Does it come through royal mail?

Thanks again Beeba for your valuable advise and good wishes.

One more thing I wanna share as i mentioned in my earlier post. In last 12 months, my absenses are around 180 days. This s because of birth of my 2nd child and hospitalization of my 1st child back in my origin country.

I have a proof of this as well.. As the UKBA website says that they may use there discretionary powers to waive absences based on guinien reason provided a person meets all other requiments, ( which I did)

Please advise your valuable thoughts or if someone has gone through similar situation.

Appreciate the feed back.
