First, your wait time thus far has not been that long. Don't focus just on the quickest ones but look at the others as well.

Therefore, provided your application is fairly straightforward, i.e. all residential criteria met, nothing declared in section 3.6 etc, you needn't worry at all at this point.

On the other hand, if your case seems somewhat complex but you still meet the unwaivable requirements, you might want to consider writing to UKBA to support your case with additional clarifications, either by yourself or through a solicitor.

That said, if I were you, I would wait for another couple of weeks before going down that route.

Of course, that's just the way I see it, from my layperson's point of view. An expert might give you a different piece of advice.

It's your call, of course, but if I were you, I'd talk to a solicitor, just to be safe. Good luck!

No worries. Many thanks.

Actually, the case worker called me on my mobile yesterday afternoon to inform me of the details of the application progress up that point. Exceptionally kind case worker, I reckoned! That said, I called the UKBA call centre this morning to verify. The call centre confirmed everything that the case worked had said.

Hi all,

I applied for my Passport on Tue 19th, I called IPS today to see if i could book an appointment for Passport Interview, However lady told me i need to wait until i receive interview letter before i can book the appointment? Letter could take 2-3 weeks to arrive

I have seen some people booked their appointment before they receive their letter? hows that possible?

Can some one please guide?

mumtos wrote:Hi, i just wanted to ask a question here about naturalisation, can anyone plz tell me that:

Is there any chance of your application being accepted/rejected despite you declare , getting just one fixed penalty notice(shoplifitng) in 5 years of your residence. All other requiremnets are fulfilled. Even I know that there was no need to declare the fixed penalty notice, but I did cuz many people suggested that to me but now i think I did wrong and it can go against me(God forbidden),(as HO also said not necessary to disclose, but its too late now) will it really have any negative impact on the application?

Is there anyone who have experinced the same situation,of disclosing one fixed penalty notice and it didnt effect the dicsion and the application was succesful..plz reply as its giving me a severe depression..:(

Also if it takes too long for your application than normal, that means the application is in danger? cuz i have seen many posts in this thread, regarding timeline, and it looks that it only takes 3 weeks for your application to be approved.(also ppl i knw got the approval letter within 3 4 weeks)but with my case its been more than 5 weeks, there is nothing i heard about the deceion.

plz respond to my querries as am really worried..
thanks
Can anyone plzz say something about that????

@mumtos, my recommendation is the folowing:

Call UKBA on 0151 672 5626. When they ask you for your HO reference number, tell them that you have a general enquiry and they would not need your details in that case. Ask them if they would ignore a declaration of a fixed penalty notice that did not need to be declared according to their guidelines. If they say something like "yes, we would ignore it", great, job done. If they say something along the lines of "no, we would not ignore it", describe the situation regarding the particular fixed penalty notice that you declared and ask if the potential refusal on those grounds would be automatic or discretionary. If the refusal is automatic, ask how much time one would need to allow to pass before re-applying. If the refusal is at a discretion of a senior/chief case worker, talk to a solicitor.

That's what I would do if I were you. It might be worth talking to an expert, just to be safe.

magsi,

the interview booking number is 0300 222 1000. You need togive the booking reference no. that you will obtain from the passport helpline (0300 222 0000), not the barcode. You need to provide the barcode to the passport helpline to obtain the reference no. if your application has been processed.

@mumtos,

That is great news! It's now a matter of when, not if, which makes all the difference.

P.S. Timeline is less important than the outcome and you are looking to a positive outcome. So, don't worry too much about the timeline, it does not matter after all.

@Generalisimus : any suggestion how / what to ask when we enquire the status on 0151 672 5626 ? Tried calling now and it appears they would not let us know status unless its more than 6 months . Any tips on how to speak to find out if the application has been forwarded to a case worker or any decision has been made ? I had submitted thru Newham , Check & Send on 29th Sept - reached HO on 30th Sept.
