Hi, i have the similiar case as its been more than 5 weeks i have not recieved any thing except for the acknowledgment letter..but the other day i phoned the HO and asked about my application progress n they said that decision has been made and you should recieve a letter within next few days..they didnt disclose the decsion as they were not allowed to but as i was so desperate to knw i did something else...
i rang the local council where i am expecting the citizenship ceremony and asked them if they got my name on the list of next scheduled ceremony and luckily they said yes they have and they have recieved my naturalisation certificate already and are goin to send me an invitation letter soon..

Could someone explain please the difference between:

Date UKBA made decision

and

Date of receipt of approval letter

Which information is contained in "UKBA made decision" ? do UKBA tell what the
decision is, in their first mail ?

thanks, Ed

date UKBA made decision is the date typed on the letter which you get a bit later because it can`t reach you the same day they post it.

date of reciept of approval letter is the date when you recieve it in post...!

the letter that u recieve cleary tell u about your approval/rejection of application , is called the UKBA made decisoin..

i think i have replied correct..hope this answers your question

thanks

still waiting for the Approval letter.TODAY'S DATE IS 26. OCTOBER STILL WAITING. i can see most of you are getting approved within two weeks or three

joebloggs

I THINK ME AND YOU WERE FORGOTEN ONCE, COZ 99.9% OF THE APPLICATION SENT HAVE BEEN APPROVED WITHIN THE AVERAGE OF 3 WEEKS. WE KEEP PRAYING TO GOD, HOPE FULLY WE WILL GET RESPONCE SOON.

My quest is HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT ANY suggestions. Thank you in advance
My acknowledgement letter is dated a week earlier than yours yet I have not received any correspondence since....I am very concerned like you.

I'm in the similar situation as you mate. Application was sent on the 17th of Sept. and they sent a payment declined letter on the 27th of Sept. I sent a new payment instruction on the 30th of Sept. and the payment was taken on the 5th of Oct and I have been waiting ever since then really. I called them today and they said that my application has not yet been assigned to a case worker even though it was transferred to the case working team on the 5th of Oct. I am starting to get worked up.

if you're lucky the difference is about 10 days.
Man, what's wrong with you? Plain English!
Recently Germany plan to introduce IQ tests before the citizenship can be granted. Sometimes I thing the HM government should do the same.
Best wishes

One of the qualities I admire among British people is their tolerance and you can argue that immigrants should be tested on this quality before they get their British passport. Please be aware immigrants have different level of exposure in their homeland and what sounds like plain English to you might not be the same to some one else.

Cheers.

Thanks for the answers. I just wandered why it sometimes takes
10 days between the decision and the letter informing about it.

Special thanks to dee74 for being so rude.

Apology if you feel upset. It wasn't my intention to be rude however I truly and deliberately was doing my best to be sarcastic. You know, local sense of humour is a part of our naturalisation process.

It can take that long because after a decision has been made, the letter needs to be printed and sent (by second class post). Normally, those three phases (decision-making, printing of the letter and sending it out) take place on different days. For instance, in my case, decision was made on the 14th, letter printed on the 15th and posted on the 18th, to arrive on the 21st.

still waiting, it has been 5 weeks since i got the acknowledgment letter. i wanted to give them a call but since everyone who rang them is not getting the answer i decided to wait whatever it takes.

I can see most of the folks on here had 1yrs ILR i think that helps since there were checked a year ago, they process their application very fast.

other who had their ILR for 5 years 'like me' need extra time to be checked. that is based on my opinion and my experience on this lovely site.

Than God

unlike you dee74 refugee or people who fled from their original country have many reasons to be like this because some of them was hurt very badly. imagine a whole family been killed except ' elderly grandma' and the survivor is applying for naturalization what will you expect from him/her. leave alone the IQ his mind is half gone my friend because of what happened. please patience

icebreaker et al, would you mind deleting the contents of these "IQ" discussion posts, as they take up real estate on the forum and make it more difficult to search for relevant tips and clarifications? Many thanks!

Indeed. I would expext from the applicant to be naturalised enought to apply for naturalisation. This includes local sense of humour which obviously might be very helpful to 'close the door to the past behind'.
Being british does not only mean to be the British Passport holder and to cross the borders with 'how are you today' rather than 'what is purpose of your journey'.
Anyway - I recommend Monty Python. It helps.
Best wishes

I am actually quite amused by the discussion about my IQ:
I am a professor of mathematics, specializing in algebraic topology ...
(my question was indeed a bit silly -it can happen to anyone, even to math professors !)
