Hi,
submitted appln. via NCS Bradford on 06.10.2005
Criteria : 4 yrs WP and 2+ yrs ILR
Card debitted on 10.10.2005
Acknowledgement recd. on 11.10.05
Approval letter recd. on 17.10.2005 (letter dated 14/10/05).
Waiting to hear reg. the ceremony.
It has taken about just 6 working days.
I think the NCS system really works. It is a great service and we should commend the HomeOffice for quick processing on straightforward cases. I don't think I could have asked for a quicker processing than this.

GOT THE APPROVAL LETTER TODAY!
Wow! I am impressed with the speed at which these applications are being dealt with these days. God is good! The letter is dated 18-10-05 which means it has taken the home office 4 days to finish all the enquiries (the acknowledgement letter was dated 14-10-05). Is this the quickest response ever?

Yorkking, the Local Authority will be in touch about the Citizenship Ceremony.

In the background IND will have prepared the Certificate of Naturalisation and sent that to the Local Authority, so that it can be handed to you at the ceremony.

actually it took just 2 to 3 working days for them to do their inquiries. Impressive.

John
am not too sure, of course u r an expert.
does the invite letter come from the HO or the local council?
If so, are we ok to ring up the local council to follow-up adn find the status?
what do u think?

The invite letter should come from the Home Office within a week after the decision letter. The Council may or may not send a letter around the same time. My Council sent a letter and questionnaire but not all do. Some expect that you contact them as requested in the Home Office invitation letter.

I have some travel plans in 3 weeks from now.
Can I take a chance and apply for the passport via PostOffice?
Any idea abt current turnaround time now for postoffice applications, please?
What would be your guys' recommendation - postoffice or passport office in person(which is a 2.5 hrs journey for me atleast).

I think the postoffice turnaround time is 10 working days although there is no guarantee. Personally if I had to travel in 3 weeks I wouldn't take the chance and would use the one week guranteed turnaround from the passport office.

Should i Called again?

Hm ... any particular reason why you submitted via a Solicitor? Normally this is an easy procedure and there is no need to involve the legal profession. Far better IMHO to use NCS in order to ensure the application is in order and supported with all the required documents.

Average time for Naturalisation Applications is 4.11 months according to the IND website. Suggest you wait until that has expired before next making contact. In other words, wait until 2006 before phoning again. Hopefully well before that you will hear the result of your application.
