I have a question in relation to the Naturalisation process.I obtained my ILR on the 5th of Mar 2008, i subsequently spent 407 days outside the UK traveling round the US and Canada.

I am back now and have eased into things and would be looking to apply for naturalisation sometime soon. My question is how soon can i apply for, do i have to wait another three years to apply.

Any information in the above direction would be most appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

Its just difficult to asses exactly on what date you will be eligible with the information you have provided. Just count back 5 years from the date you want to apply for BC and make sure

That you havent been away for more than 450 days in total
That in the last 12 months you havent been away for more than 90 days.

Yes it is a bit difficult to say without more detail on your absences and also whether you are applying under 5year stay or 3year (spouse)

Have a read of Residence requirements in particular section 4
