I applied on 5th July by NCS Newham. It got there on 6th July as per royal mail. But my payment has not been taken yet. Any idea? is this normal?

Yes relax. I applied June 25, money was "set aside" by bank on July 2, and finally withdrawn July 5 or 6. So it can take up to 10 days especially if there is a weekend in the middle.
