I was born in Malaysia in 1974. I've been Stateless all my life.

My father is British and my mother is Singaporean. My parents were married but they got a divorce shortly after I was born. Currently, I'm a Malaysian Permanent Resident and I'm carrying a Certificate of Identity for traveling purposes.

I've been in Malaysia since I was 10 years old. I've applied for a Malaysian citizenship but the application was canceled after more than 15 years of waiting. No explanation was given and they suggested that I apply again, which I'm not going to. 15 more years of limbo is unacceptable. My partner and I have decided to leave the country and start our business and lives elsewhere

My father has sent me his documents which includes his birth certificate, passports and marriage/divorce papers. Am I eligible for a British passport and how do I go about getting one?

-My father is from Scotland and a British subject.

If your father was born in the UK, then you are probably British by descent. Just apply for a British passport.
