Hi all,

I am eligbile to apply for BC in April 2011. I am 5 year work permit/ tier1 and 1 year ILR.
In nov 2009 I with my family applied for canadian residency visa which is still in progress but at some point in last year we decided not to go ahead with canadian immigration.

Now my worry is they will definitely doubt my future intention that i might leave this country.

1) Do you think this will affect my BC application ?

2) if it affect then how can i show home office that i have decided to Live in this conutry now and not going to canada ?

3) any other suggestion you guys can think for me to have successfull application ??

When i read future intention requirement on home office website, it does not mention anywhere if you have applied for any other country you will not satisfy future intention requirement.

Please help..

Thanks in advance..

Deep..

Did you notify Canadian Immigration that you decided not to go ahead with your Canadian residency application?
If so and assuming they had not/will not stamp your passport I don't see your problem.
If they do stamp your passport then you can still explain your situation (that you changed your mind and intend to reside in the UK) but you might have explaining to do.

i submitted Police clearance certificate(PCC) as one of the requirement for canadian immigration that means there is record in Police database of my certificate.

when homeoffice will look at this database they will see my case...
If they query me i can explain..
They might reject the application as i might not be in satisfaction of this future intention requirement..

see this from other angle....deciding not to go for Canadian citizenship and susequently apply for BC shows your strong intention to make UK your perm home !

You should be ok, as others have suggested. I applied for British citizenship in November 2010 and received it in January this year. I not only had the police clearance certificate (like you), but also Canadian immigration visa stamped (in summer 2009) and still received ILR in November 2009.

I went to Canada to complete the process in 2010 and, therefore, had that stamped as well when I applied for citizenship.
While each caseworker will look at these things individually, if you have established yourself in the UK, then the police clearance, or even the visa should not affect your British application.

Don't think you need to own a home to show you are established. I rent. I suppose staying in the UK, not too many trips abroad for extended period (unless for work or business), not moving around too much. There are some examples in the An guide.
