I am hoping to get a couple questions answered and your help would be much appreciated.

My mother was born in Anguilla and currently has a BOTC passport. My brother was born in April 1979 in St. Lucia. After looking up information regarding his eligibility to apply for BOTC I was under the impression (not sure if it's correct) that he would be able to apply based on descent. However, he is being told by Anguillan immigration officials that since he was not born in Anguilla he first needs to become a naturalized Anguillan before he can apply for BOTC. Can anyone please clarify what the correct process is, of if he is really eligible at all since I am a bit confused at this point.

It doesn't look like he qualifies for UKM registration unless he can show that he would have become a British citizen on 1.1.1983 had he acquired UK nationality from his mother when he was born.

You will not qualify for registration if you would have become a British overseas citizen or a British dependent territories citizen on 1 January 1983, if women had been able to pass citizenship on before that date.


Does he have any UK born grandparents? That would be enough to make him eligible for UKM registration.

I am not aware of any equivalent UKM process for British Dependent Territories citizenship.
